Life saving defibrillators coming to district schools
The Heart and Stroke Foundation announced Friday they will be installing four automated external defibrillators into Northern District of Thunder Bay schools, in partnership with Philips Healthcare.
The AEDs will soon be on the walls of Bernier Stokes School in Collins, Armstrong Public School in Armstrong, Nakina Public School and Holy Name of Jesus School in Hornepayne.

VIA Rail death may not be connected to sick passengers
One woman has died and several others are sick with flu-like symptoms on a quarantined Via Rail passenger train sitting in the tiny town of Foleyet in northern Ontario, but police now say it doesn't look like there's any connection between the death and the illnesses.
Foleyet is about 100 kilometres southwest of Timmins and has a population of about 380 people. The train pulled into the hamlet early Friday morning and was three days into its trip from Vancouver to Toronto.

Crossing guards recognized for service
Local school crossing guards were recognized Friday at the Oliver Road Community Centre, for their efforts to keep children safe on their way to and from school.
Frank Brown was among those who were honoured for their longtime service and he will soon be retiring from crosswalk duty. St. Bernard school celebrates 50 years
St. Bernard School on River Street recently completed a $6 million expansion and renovation just in time for the local elementary school to celebrate its 50th birthday.
Students and staff celebrated the retrofit and the birthday with a party Thursday night and a pancake breakfast Friday morning in the school's brand new gym. Cab driver robbed at knife point
City police are looking for a man who robbed a taxi driver at knife point early Friday morning.
The victim was a female driver who had taken the man to a number of locations on the north side of the city and when she asked for the final fare at John and Algonquin around 12:30 a.m. Friday morning, the man pulled a knife and demanded money.
